is a journalist and filmmaker based in Oakland, California, that tells visual stories centering communities whose lived experiences have historically been misrepresented and underrepresented in media. She was previously a staff video journalist at the Associated Press in Chicago and is now in development of her first feature documentary, an extension of her short Tender Exchange.

Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Video Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
